Former Big Brother Naija housemate and entrepreneur, Ka3na, has appealed to Nigerian female celebrities to stop misleading fans by faking pregnancies, encouraging them instead to be open about using surrogates.
In a post shared via Instagram, Ka3na expressed disappointment over the growing culture of secrecy around motherhood journeys, particularly the use of artificial baby bumps to stage pregnancy announcements.
“Dear Nigerian Public Figures (especially women), we are privileged to be more informed, more exposed, and better travelled. With that comes the responsibility to be honest with our followers,” she wrote.
The mother of one stressed that surrogacy is a legitimate option that deserves to be normalised, not hidden behind fabricated images.
“There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a baby through a surrogate. The child is 100% yours. So why deceive your fans by pretending to be pregnant?” she asked.
Ka3na also shared her own personal story, revealing that her previous pregnancy experience left her with lasting trauma, and she would likely opt for surrogacy in the future.
“Take me for example: I had a traumatic pregnancy that left me with a deep fear of going through it again. If I ever choose to have another child, I hope to go through surrogacy. And there’s nothing shameful about that,” she stated.
Encouraging public figures to prioritise authenticity, she said openness about the realities of motherhood could offer hope to women silently dealing with fertility struggles and health complications.
“We have platforms. We have influence. Let’s use them to share truth that helps, not just images that perform. And for the record, many of us mothers can see through the act. You’re not pregnant, and that’s okay. But the lie? It’s unnecessary,” she added.
