Nigerian rapper and human rights advocate, Falz, has sparked fresh debate after openly criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s reaction to the latest round of deadly attacks in Benue State.
Taking to social media, Falz responded sharply to the president’s statement, which condemned the violence and urged security agencies to act swiftly. But for the “This Is Nigeria” crooner, words no longer hold weight. He described the president’s remarks as “routine” and lacking real substance or urgency.
“You have consistently shown that you are incapable of performing the primary duty of securing lives and property of your citizens,” Falz wrote in response to Tinubu’s post on X (formerly Twitter). “This routine statement does not cut it.”
His remarks have since gone viral, fueling heated discourse across social platforms. While some applauded his boldness, others criticized him for what they called unnecessary hostility.
Falz is no stranger to government scrutiny and outspokenness. Known for using his music and influence to address social injustice, his stance once again echoes the frustrations of many Nigerians who feel disillusioned by repeated cycles of violence, especially in states like Benue.
The killings in Benue, which left dozens dead in Yelwata community, have drawn international concern. Many say they’ve seen this script too many times a tragedy, followed by condemnation, and little visible action.
With security continuing to deteriorate in parts of the country, Falz’s voice joins those demanding not just empathy but concrete change.
As the conversation continues to trend, one thing is clear the call for accountability and real reform has never been louder.
