Controversial journalist Kemi Olunloyo has stirred conversation online after making fresh claims about the death of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo’s late mother, Victoria Fetuga. This comes years after the 67-year-old woman was reported to have died peacefully in her sleep in November 2020.

In a recent Facebook post, Olunloyo dismissed rumors circulating on social media that suggested Iyabo Ojo sacrificed her mother to gain fame. Instead, the journalist alleged that the late Mrs. Fetuga had long battled a serious mental health condition, which she claimed ultimately led to her passing.

Olunloyo stated that Mrs. Fetuga suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, a chronic mental illness marked by delusions and intense suspicion of others. According to her, this condition had taken a significant toll on the late woman’s life, and she added that Ojo allegedly mistreated her mother during her final years.

“She didn’t die because of any ritual or sacrifice as people have speculated,” Olunloyo wrote. “The truth is that Iyabo’s mother had been suffering from paranoid schizophrenia. She endured this illness until her death, and sadly, there was abuse involved.”

While Iyabo Ojo has always spoken lovingly and publicly about her late mother often referring to her as a strong influence in her life Olunloyo’s claims stand in sharp contrast, portraying a different narrative that has now caught the attention of fans and critics alike.

So far, Iyabo Ojo has not responded to the latest round of allegations, but the development has reignited debate about how mental health is treated within Nigerian families, especially in the entertainment industry.

Whether Olunloyo’s statements are accurate or not, the conversation has brought renewed attention to issues of stigma, care, and public assumptions surrounding high-profile losses.
