Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder of Amazon, has officially married Lauren Sanchez in a luxurious wedding held on San Giorgio Island in Venice, Italy. The picturesque ceremony took place just across from the historic Doge’s Palace.
Sanchez shared the joyful news on Instagram, posting an affectionate photo of herself with Bezos, accompanied by a heart emoji. She wore a striking custom Dolce & Gabbana gown, while Bezos opted for a classic black tuxedo and bow tie.
The celebration unfolded over three days, beginning with a lavish gathering at the Madonna dell’Orto cloister on Thursday. The main ceremony occurred on Friday, and the festivities concluded Saturday with a grand reception hosted at a converted shipyard venue.
The wedding drew around 250 prominent guests, including celebrities and influential figures such as Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, Bill Gates, Eric Schmidt, Tom Brady, Orlando Bloom, Usher, Jewel, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman. Adding a special touch, Matteo Bocelli—the son of world-famous tenor Andrea Bocelli—performed a live love song dedicated to the couple.
While the ceremony brought a romantic spotlight to Venice, it also drew criticism from environmental advocates and local groups opposed to large-scale tourism. Critics accused Bezos of flaunting wealth at the expense of the city’s fragile ecosystem. Still, regional authorities welcomed the event, with Veneto’s president Luca Zaia estimating an economic boost of €34 million from increased tourism and local business activity.
Bezos and Sanchez’s relationship entered the public eye in 2019 when their romance was revealed while both were still married. Shortly after, Bezos and his then-wife MacKenzie Scott ended their 25-year marriage, describing the split as amicable. They share four children, and Scott received more than $35 billion as part of their divorce settlement.
Sanchez, who has three children from previous relationships, was previously married to talent executive Patrick Whitesell for 13 years.
