British boxer and former fiancé to DJ Cuppy, Ryan Taylor, has responded to criticism from Nigerians following a remark he made in a Father’s Day post that sparked backlash online.
Taylor had taken to Instagram to share touching photos with his daughter in celebration of Father’s Day. In his caption, he pledged to combat racism by having mixed-race children — a comment that triggered reactions from social media users.
The situation escalated when someone pointed out that his daughter resembled DJ Cuppy, prompting a subtle jab from Taylor that many found offensive.
Amid the backlash, Taylor addressed the controversy in a strongly worded message via his Instagram story, defending both his partner and child.
He wrote:
“Today is a special day.
Nigerians gotta chill out you come for the mother of my child and think I won’t back it? Don’t come on my page talking shit and cry when I speak.
I NEVER signed the Contract.
I will always say what I want and do what is right for me or my family.
I haven’t said shit yet everyone gotta chill.”
Taylor and DJ Cuppy ended their engagement in 2023, months after publicly confirming their relationship.
