Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has shared a heartfelt message aimed at young women, encouraging them to prioritize self-development and take breaks from social media.
In a recent Instagram story, the actress disclosed that she was inspired to speak out after receiving a post about a young girl who felt lost. This prompted her to offer words of encouragement to other young women who may be facing similar struggles.
She reminded her audience that personal growth happens at different times for everyone, regardless of societal or cultural expectations. Omotola emphasized that being different should be viewed as a gift rather than a flaw.
“Darling, everyone blossoms at different times, and although family, society, and cultures have framed when it seems right, it is not always best and possibly not for you,” she wrote.
“You seem… You are different, but because you’re not normal, you think it’s bad; no, it’s special. You are special.”
Encouraging young women to take practical steps toward self-improvement, she advised them to unplug from social media and focus on activities that bring them joy and motivation.
“Start working on yourself. Find things that keep you moving, and do them! Turn off social media—even I do it very often. Make sure you surround yourself with things that give you hope and joy,” she said.
Omotola also recommended exploring spirituality as a source of inner peace, particularly suggesting a personal connection with Jesus.
“If you don’t know him, my personal advice is to seek a personal relationship with Jesus. Try that. I promise you’ll find joy in your journey.”
She ended on an encouraging note, assuring her followers that better days lie ahead: “Your best is yet to come. It might not feel like that now. But key in, soon you’ll smile. You’ll see.”
