Renowned Nigerian rapper and YBNL Nation founder, Olamide, has been recognised by Billboard as one of its Global Power Players for 2025. The prestigious honour celebrates his influence in shaping the global trajectory of his label, which is home to Afrobeats stars Asake and Fireboy DML.
In 2024, YBNL celebrated major achievements, including Asake’s Lungu Boy being declared Nigeria’s biggest album by TurnTable Charts, and Fireboy’s Adedamola receiving widespread critical acclaim.
Olamide highlighted YBNL’s commitment to expanding its global reach through strategic international collaborations. He noted that working with global artists and producers has played a vital role in blending Afrobeats with other music genres, bolstering the label’s international appeal.
“YBNL Nation has made significant strides in expanding our global footprint and solidifying our presence in key international markets,” Olamide said. “Collaborations with international artists and producers have helped bridge the gap between Afrobeats and other genres.”
Some of the label’s recent milestones include Asake’s multiple sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena—making him the third Nigerian artist to achieve that repeatedly—and his hit single MMS earning a Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance at the 67th Grammy Awards.
Olamide’s recognition by Billboard cements his position as one of the leading forces behind Afrobeats’ global influence.
