Nigerian music star Johnny Drille, bornohnn, has opened up about the transformative power of fatherhood, describing it as one of the most defining experiences of his life.
The Mavin Records singer and his wife, Rima Tahini, welcomed their daughter, Amaris Esohe, in late 2023. Since becoming a father, Drille said he has developed a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices and love shown by his parents during his upbringing.
In a recent interview, the soulful singer revealed that having a child has given him a renewed sense of purpose and a stronger connection to his roots. He emphasized how much more he now values the role his parents played in his life, especially during difficult times when resources were scarce but love and support remained constant.
According to Drille, his guiding principle has always been to prioritize his family, no matter where his music career takes him. He admitted that the responsibility of raising a child has made him realize the emotional and physical demands his parents once faced, and it has deepened his respect for them.
Reflecting on his childhood, he recalled how his parents shielded him and his siblings from hardship, turning tough situations into joyful memories. “What looked like fun then, I now know were their efforts to protect us,” he said.
Now a parent himself, Drille shared that he hopes to give his daughter the same love, stability, and sense of wonder that he experienced growing up. He believes conversations about the challenges and rewards of parenting are important and not shared often enough.
With his new role as a father, Johnny Drille continues to evolve both personally and artistically, drawing inspiration from the growing bond with his daughter and his renewed appreciation for family.
