The Nigerian entertainment industry is mourning the loss of Monalisa Ayobami Stephen, a beloved plus-size model, actress, and brand influencer who passed away in Lagos on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
The sad news was made public by Seun Oloketuyi, Chief Executive Officer of Best of Nollywood (BON), through a post on Instagram on Wednesday, May 14. According to Oloketuyi, Monalisa succumbed after a difficult battle with low blood sugar and internal bleeding.
“Brand influencer Monalisa Ayobami Stephen is dead. She died yesterday in Lagos after losing the fight against low sugar and internal bleeding. Her immediate younger sister confirmed the death of this hardworking and beautiful soul,” he stated in the post.
Monalisa was widely admired for her confidence, resilience, and body positivity advocacy, and her passing leaves a deep void in Nollywood and among her fans.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.
