Social media went into a frenzy on Thursday after Nigerian music stars Don Jazzy (Michael Ajereh) and Shallipopi (Crown Uzama) stunned fans with spontaneous million-naira cash gifts triggered by viral online conversations.
Don Jazzy set the tone for the day’s excitement by blessing a woman, Adeyemi Adejoke Abidemi, with a whopping ₦6 million after noticing her account balance was in dire condition.
The chain of events began when a trending post on X.com encouraged users to tag one celebrity they wished would send them ₦1 million. Adeyemi, who uses the handle #PopoolaJoke4, joined the trend and tagged Don Jazzy, writing: “Make I tag #DONJAZZY. I dey always dream about him. Happy new month sir.”
The Mavin Records boss replied shortly after with a simple prompt: “Akant namba.” She shared her GTBank details, and not long after, a jubilant Adeyemi posted a screenshot confirming a ₦1 million credit alert.
“Jesuuuuuusssssssss, this is huge,” she wrote. “Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. Receiving 1 million naira is beyond anything I expected, and I’m truly grateful. Your support means the world to me. God bless you abundantly sir.”
But the surprise was far from over. After noticing her previous account balance was just ₦67.29, Don Jazzy decided to do even more.
“Amen ooo. That your akant balance is not healthy. I don add another 5 million. More blessings ma,” he wrote.
Adeyemi later shared a screenshot reflecting the new total of ₦6 million in her account.
In an emotional follow-up post, she said: “Oluwa oo. I am deeply grateful for this extraordinary blessing. May the Almighty who used you to lift me reward you beyond measure. May your hands never lack, your heart always be at peace, and your generations forever enjoy divine favour. Thank you #DONJAZZY. May God continue to enlarge your coast.”
When a commenter questioned her financial situation, she clarified: “None of my accounts get 1 naira, I can screenshot all for you, only GTBank get 67 naira.”
Meanwhile, Shallipopi also gave fans a reason to celebrate. While promoting his music on X, he announced:
“Summer is coming, ready your shorts and bikinis. Don’t forget to take a lil speaker with you in case you wanna jam da Album.”
A user, Samuel Uchechukwu Ifesinachi (@teslime_dmw), replied: “Summer is coming, still broke as hell. Money to buy speaker no dey.”
Shallipopi responded: “Imma send u a million if you promise to get yourself a very big JBL.” Ifesinachi accepted eagerly and dropped his details. The singer followed through by posting the transaction receipt showing a ₦1 million transfer.
Another lucky fan, Anirah Gabriel (@gabe_the_menace), reignited an old exchange with the artist by sharing a March conversation where Shallipopi asked him: “How much you fit chop?” and he had replied: “Shock me papi.”
Shallipopi replied: “Lol u nor talk how much u fit chop nah. You dey do yanga for presido, talk jorr.”
Gabriel wrote back: “Make I see 1 meter from u preside jare,” and the artist responded, “Now u are talking,” before requesting his account number.
Soon after, Shallipopi posted proof of another ₦1 million transfer to Gabriel, sealing yet another moment of online generosity.
