Afrobeats superstar and Grammy nominee Davido has sparked a wave of online reactions after proclaiming that Lagos has the best nightlife on the planet.
Speaking during his appearance on the Culture Knock Out podcast, the singer highlighted the city’s buzzing social scene, top-tier restaurants, and abundance of exciting places to visit.
“There [are] so many interesting things to do in Lagos. We have amazing nightlife. I feel like we have the best nightlife in the world, we have good restaurants. Everything is there in Lagos,” Davido said.
His remarks quickly drew a flood of reactions from social media users, with opinions sharply divided.
Some praised him for promoting Lagos in a positive light. @Chief_Big360 commented, “Sentiments aside, Davido impresses me with the way he promotes Lagos on any chance he has in interviews.”
Others, however, questioned the sincerity of his statement. @ThePhysicsOfgod suggested it might be an attempt at image repair: “This must be damage control after being bashed for demarketing Nigeria in his other interview. Lagos has the best nightlife in the world ke.”
Concerns about security were also raised by @Onuohajude8, who warned: “If u are not careful after the night life u lose ur phone or ur life.”
Meanwhile, @Here4buz cast doubt on the purpose of Davido’s media rounds, writing: “But wait o, what is really the objective of these interviews; I am asking out of genuine curiosity because his last album performed very poorly on the global charts after countless interviews.”
Despite the divided views, Davido’s comments have reignited conversations about Lagos as a global entertainment destination.
