Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has sparked online buzz after suggesting that Davido’s recently unveiled restaurant would have been more meaningful if it had been named in honor of his wife, Chioma Rowland.
In a post shared on Instagram, Sarah clarified that her opinion stems from a place of genuine affection for the couple, particularly for Chioma, whom she described as a talented and passionate chef.
She noted that Chioma’s love for cooking is well known to the public and felt it would have been a beautiful gesture if Davido had spotlighted that in his latest business venture.
“This is coming from a place of love,” Sarah wrote. “I’m a huge fan of OBO, but I was truly hoping the new restaurant would be a platform to showcase Chioma’s culinary passion. A high-end restaurant named after her would have added a personal touch and made just as much impact.”
She also mentioned that the move could have aligned with the promotion of Davido’s recent Timeless follow-up project, The 5IVE, noting that tying Chioma’s brand to the restaurant would have amplified both ventures.
While her post drew mixed reactions online, many fans supported her viewpoint, reminiscing about past videos where Chioma impressed viewers with her cooking skills. Others, however, defended Davido’s branding decision and praised The 5IVE Kitchen by Davido for its sleek rollout.
Despite the differing opinions, Sarah reiterated that her comments were not driven by negativity. She expressed her admiration for Chioma and emphasized her intention wasn’t to stir controversy.
