Nollywood actress Bimpe Akintunde has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of plus-size activist and media personality Monalisa Stephen.
The sad news of Monalisa’s death was made public on Wednesday by Seun Oloketuyi, the Chief Executive Officer of Best of Nollywood (BON). In a post shared on his verified Instagram page, Oloketuyi revealed that Monalisa died on Tuesday, May 13, in Lagos following complications related to low blood sugar and internal bleeding. According to him, her immediate younger sister confirmed the tragic news.
In an emotional reaction, Bimpe took to social media to mourn the loss, expressing shock that Monalisa hadn’t reached out during her struggles. The actress shared her heartbreak over the sudden nature of her passing and offered prayers for her soul.
“Monaaaaaa, you go at least call or message me when you were going through all of that naaaaaa, haaaaaahaaaaaaaa Eleyi ba mi lojiji,” she wrote. “Sebi me n you dey talk naaaa? I pray your sweet soul find eternal Rest Aburo mi daada.”
She also extended her sympathies to Monalisa’s family, writing, “My condolences to @iamolasamuel and Family, A o ni ri iru e mo lola oluwa oba. Goodnight, Monalisa Stephen.”
Monalisa Stephen was widely known for her advocacy on body positivity and mental health, often using her platform to encourage self-love and acceptance.
