Veteran Bollywood actor and director, Manoj Kumar, has passed away at the age of 87 in Mumbai due to age-related health issues, as confirmed by Dr. Santosh Shetty of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Kumar’s son, Kunal Goswami, reported that the actor had been battling health problems for an extended period before his death.
Manoj Kumar was a celebrated figure in Indian cinema, known for his patriotic roles and films that captured the spirit of national pride. His iconic movies such as Shaheed, Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, and Kranti earned him the affectionate title of ‘Bharat Kumar’ from both fans and peers. His work was central to portraying themes of patriotism, the struggles of farmers, and the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. These films not only entertained but inspired a sense of national pride in generations of Indians.

Born Harikrishan Goswami in Punjab in 1937, Kumar’s career spanned several decades, and his contributions earned him prestigious honors such as the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. His legacy continues to influence both filmmakers and audiences, ensuring that his impactful work will live on for generations to come.
