Monday, April 21, brought a somber wave over Delta State as news broke of the untimely death of Shimite Bello, the Special Adviser on Trade and Export to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. Her sudden passing has sparked shock and concern, especially as reports suggest the possibility of poisoning.
Renowned investigative journalist, Stella Dimokorkus, was among the first to raise alarms over Bello’s death, noting that she was in good health shortly before the incident. According to the report, suspicions were aroused when Bello failed to respond to Easter messages, prompting her loved ones to check in.
Further raising eyebrows, Bello’s maid allegedly reached out to her elder brother, revealing that the deceased’s husband had locked her inside a room. He reportedly rushed to the house, only to find her in distress.
Bello was quickly taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, but tragically, she was declared dead upon arrival. Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that Bello’s husband formally reported her death to authorities. However, due to rising tensions and threats from members of her family, he was taken into protective custody as investigations began.
