Peter Okoye, a member of the Afrobeats duo PSquare, has stated that the group’s breakup was caused by the behaviour of their fans.
While speaking on the AYLIVE show, Peter revealed that the constant comparisons between him and his brother, Paul, contributed to rising tensions and ego clashes within the group.
The favoritism shown by fans towards one brother over the other deepened the divisions between them, eventually causing the group’s breakup.
He said: “Fans are the reasons Psquare no dey together today. Two brothers dey do one thing, ona dey talk say one better pass one, e con enter one head, he begin misbehave. If ona like make ona dey go house, I no send una.”
PSquare was a Nigerian musical act formed by twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye.
Established in 1997, the duo gained widespread popularity with chart-topping tracks such as “E No Easy,” “Bizzy Body,” and “Personally.”
Renowned for their dynamic performances and infectious Afrobeats, PSquare emerged as one of Africa’s most accomplished musical acts.
PSquare officially parted ways in 2017 after enduring prolonged internal conflicts and highly publicised disagreements.
The twins were managed by their older brother, Jude Okoye, who also held a major stake in their label, PClassic.
Tensions over management, finances, and creative direction put a strain on their relationship.
