Nollywood actor Richard Mofe Damijo, widely known as RMD, sparked a wave of reactions online after posting a birthday message for his colleague Omoni Oboli.
Omoni, who turned 47 on Tuesday, April 22, was celebrated by RMD with a provocative movie still featuring them in a passionate kiss. Alongside the steamy photo, RMD expressed his excitement to work with her again, writing, “Happy birthday, STARGIRL!!! I can’t wait for our next round of movies. #RMDSaysSo.”
However, the choice of the image didn’t sit well with many social media users, given that Omoni is married with three grown-up children. Some questioned RMD’s decision to post such an intimate scene from a film.
One user, Bignamek, commented, “Of all the countless photos of Omoni Oboli, you chose to use this as a birthday picture? This isn’t nice, sir. It’s wrong in all angles. I know it was probably on a movie set this was shot, but bringing make-believe into reality like this is not so good.”
Another user, A_jarofsweets_, wrote, “My prayers are with the understanding spouses,” while Bennchuks remarked, “Bros RMD abeg na only this picture dey?”
Lukealade also expressed discomfort, saying, “Eww. It didn’t have to be this picture. It’s been like, how many years since this film?”
Bignakz commented, “Ahh of all pictures!! Because man calm no mean say man mumu o,” and Kkendobaz asked, “Na person wife u hold like that, dey wish am happy birthday? Na wa o.”
Finally, Unlimited Deniola voiced strong disapproval, stating, “This is disrespectful to her husband, Nnamdi Oboli.”
Despite the backlash, RMD has not commented further on the controversy surrounding the post.
