Controversial media personality, Daddy Freeze, has once again stirred conversation online with his remarks about Nigerian pastors. In a recent interview with entrepreneur Stephen Akintayo, Daddy Freeze criticized the level of biblical understanding among Nigerian clergymen, claiming that many are merely familiar with the Bible but lack true scriptural knowledge.

According to Daddy Freeze, quoting the Bible doesn’t equate to understanding it. He emphasized the need for pastors to go beyond surface-level teachings and invest in academic study of scriptures, including learning the original languages and exploring historical texts.

"I have not met a Nigerian pastor that knows scripture," he boldly stated. "They might know the Bible, but they don’t know scripture." He argued that real scriptural knowledge involves deep scholarly work, such as analyzing ancient manuscripts and understanding the scholarly consensus formed by experts who have studied biblical texts in depth.

He added, "You can’t tell me you know the Bible just because you’ve read the King James Version from cover to cover. Until you study in the original languages, you don’t really know scripture."

The statement has since sparked a wave of reactions online, with some supporting his call for deeper theological education, while others see his comments as disrespectful to respected pastors.

Daddy Freeze, known for his fierce criticism of religious practices and his #FreeTheSheeple movement, has never shied away from confronting the Nigerian church establishment. His latest remarks are part of an ongoing conversation about the role of education, context, and critical thinking in modern-day religious leadership.
