Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin is currently under fire on social media, with many accusing her of being bitter over her long-time rival Iyabo Ojo’s daughter, Priscilla, tying the knot.
Priscilla’s traditional and white wedding ceremonies with her Tanzanian partner, Juma Jux, took over the internet last week, drawing attention not just to the couple—but also to Lizzy, who began trending for reportedly refusing to see Iyabo win.
As criticism poured in from netizens, Lizzy Anjorin went live on Instagram to address the situation. She claimed people were still salty about her own high-profile wedding back in 2020, insisting that many have yet to recover from how grand the event was. According to her, the backlash she’s facing is rooted in jealousy.
“I didn’t know my 2020 wedding pained you that much,” she said. “My friend told me this morning that they still haven’t forgiven me for that wedding. After nine months, God gave me a child. Then I got a Florida estate. But somehow, people who I don’t even see keep seeing me.”
Anjorin went on to lay curses on trolls dropping negative comments about her online, saying they would never be celebrated unless she personally attacks them first.
She also drew comparisons between the current backlash and how Naira Marley was blamed for the death of late singer Mohbad.
“This is how you people moved against Naira Marley too. You turned the whole world on him and said he killed Mohbad. Now you’re doing the same to me,” she ranted.
Defending her marriage, Lizzy added, “You all said it won’t last two years, but my God surprised you. Not everyone is a fool, some of us are wise.”
The mother of one wrapped up her rant with one last jab: “How can you compare a salesgirl to a CEO?”
