Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North in the National Assembly, has publicly rejected an offer from Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, citing dissatisfaction with the terms. The offer, which included a Land Cruiser vehicle and a monthly stipend of N10 million, was disclosed by Nwoko on Saturday in Idumuje Ugboko, Aniocha North Local Government Area. The Senator firmly stated that he would not accept the offer, emphasizing that such resources should be directed toward improving the lives of his constituents rather than serving personal interests.
Nwoko, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), criticized the PDP for prioritizing power retention over the welfare of the people. He highlighted the lack of political competition in Delta State after 25 years of PDP dominance, describing it as “business as usual” for the party. According to Nwoko, this prolonged governance has stifled progress and deprived the state of meaningful development.
The Senator expressed optimism that the APC would bring positive change to Delta State, vowing to end what he termed the “slavery” imposed by the PDP’s long-standing rule. He also reiterated his commitment to advocating for the creation of Anioma State, believing it would grant the region greater autonomy and unlock new opportunities for growth and development.
Nwoko’s rejection of the governor’s offer underscores his focus on serving the people and prioritizing their needs over personal gain. His defection to the APC and his vocal criticism of the PDP reflect his determination to challenge the status quo and push for transformative governance in Delta State.
