Portable on the Run! Singer’s Crew Faces Court as Ogun State Cracks Down on Violent Clash

Nigerian music’s resident rebel, Portable, is making headlines again—but this time, he’s not just trending for his antics; he’s a wanted man. The controversial “Zazu” crooner is reportedly on the lam after the Ogun State Government dragged nine of his associates to court for allegedly assaulting government officials. And the charges? They’re as wild as Portable’s music videos.

On Thursday, the singer’s loyal entourage—ranging in age from 19 to 28—appeared before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court, facing a laundry list of accusations that read like a script from an action movie. Armed violence with cutlasses and guns, felony, obstruction, assault, and even intent to kill were all on the docket. The defendants, identified as Oluwaseun Ayenuwa, Precious Ohiegebo, Oluwapelumi Adeosun, Gospel Kanu, Nurudeen Warris, Adetola Alashe, Fatimo Muhammed, Ifeoluwa Babatunde, and Samuel Adeleke, pleaded not guilty to the charges. But the drama didn’t stop there.

According to Police Prosecutor Sunday Ekong, the chaos erupted around 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Portable’s Odogwu Bar in Sango-Ota. The defendants, allegedly acting on the singer’s orders, reportedly ambushed officials from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development while they were on duty. The town planners—Ramon Lateef, Akinpelumi Oyero, and Abidemi Onabanjo—were allegedly restricted, obstructed, and assaulted in what prosecutors described as a calculated attack. Ekong didn’t mince words, claiming the group was armed to the teeth and hell-bent on deadly violence.

And where was Portable in all this? Missing in action. The singer, now officially a fugitive, is said to have orchestrated the entire ordeal but has since vanished into thin air, leaving his crew to face the music alone.

The root of the clash? A classic case of Portable versus authority. The incident reportedly kicked off after the ministry sealed the singer’s uncompleted hotel and building for illegal development—no permits, no problem, until the government stepped in. Portable, never one to back down, had previously taken to social media to slam the officials, accusing them of arresting his customers and vandalizing his bar. Clearly, the bad blood boiled over.

Justice O.M. Somefun, presiding over the case, granted the defendants bail at a hefty N5 million each, but not without conditions—they must provide sureties who are licensed bond agents registered with the state. The case has been adjourned until March 17, leaving fans and foes alike on edge.

Will Portable emerge from hiding to face the music? Or will the “Wahala Musician” continue to evade the long arm of the law? One thing’s for sure: this saga is peak Portable—chaotic, dramatic, and utterly unpredictable. Stay tuned for the next episode.
