Popular Nigerian TikToker, Olumide Ogunsanwo, widely known as Sea King, has been re-arrested for allegedly cyberbullying the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye. The incident occurred during a live TikTok session in December 2023, where Sea King reportedly made derogatory remarks about the revered clergyman.

The re-arrest took place on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at a magistrate’s court in Ogba, Lagos, where Sea King had appeared for a separate trial. According to reports, he was taken into custody by police officers and transported to the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja before being flown to Abuja for further investigation. Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore confirmed the arrest in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the TikToker’s ordeal stemmed from the alleged cyberbullying incident involving Pastor Adeboye.

This is not the first time Sea King has faced legal troubles. In December 2023, he was arrested for making inflammatory remarks about President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in viral TikTok videos. His controversial content has often sparked public outrage, leading to multiple run-ins with law enforcement.

The re-arrest has ignited mixed reactions online, with some condemning his actions as disrespectful and others questioning the severity of the response. Critics argue that while cyberbullying is a serious offense, the handling of the case raises concerns about freedom of expression and the disproportionate use of state power.

As the case unfolds, Sea King’s legal team, led by human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju, is working to ensure due process. The incident highlights the growing tension between social media freedom and accountability in Nigeria, as well as the influence of religious figures in the country’s socio-political landscape.

For now, Sea King remains in custody as investigations continue, leaving many to ponder the broader implications of this case for digital expression and the rule of law in Nigeria.
