In a shocking and disturbing revelation, the Ogun State chapter of the Western Nigeria Security Network, Amotekun, has busted a sex trafficking syndicate operating in the state. The syndicate, led by Mrs. Edem Joy and allegedly backed by a 60-year-old woman, Mrs. Okutoro Yemisi, had been luring young girls from various states, including Akwa Ibom, Calabar, and Delta State, with false promises of employment.
The horrific details revealed that the victims, aged between 12 and 14 years old, were forced into prostitution and subjected to physical and emotional abuse. They were made to swear oaths with their blood, hair, and Bible, and were threatened with harm if they attempted to escape. The syndicate used drugs and charms to control the girls, who were then dispatched to different hotels for exploitation.
Acting on an anonymous tip received on February 8th, Amotekun operatives raided the Railway Line Hotel, Old Bank Bus Stop, in Ifo town, and arrested the suspects. Items recovered from the scene include lubricants, drugs, cash, and charms.
The authorities are currently investigating the syndicate's operations and connections. The suspects are expected to face charges related to human trafficking, exploitation, and abuse.
