Nigerian singer Spyro has publicly called out music executive Ubi Franklin, accusing him of using Davido's name to orchestrate a fake performance deal.
Spyro alleged that Franklin invited him to perform at an event, promising a $5,000 payment under the pretense that Davido had endorsed the arrangement. However, Spyro later discovered that Davido was unaware of the deal.
Spyro claimed that after performing, he received no payment. When confronted, Franklin allegedly admitted that Davido was not involved, leaving Spyro feeling deceived. The singer labeled the situation a “broad daylight scam,” expressing his disappointment in someone he once respected.

In response, Ubi Franklin denied the allegations, calling them baseless and damaging to his reputation. Franklin countered by claiming that Spyro owed him ₦10.5 million as a commission for facilitating a car purchase. He proposed offsetting the $5,000 performance fee against the alleged debt."You go all around scamming people off their money, and this has to stop... Ubi, you are still going to pay this money, or we will drag it till Jesus comes."

Franklin also emphasized that he never used Davido's name to deceive anyone and accused Spyro of trying to tarnish his image."He stopped picking up my calls... If we do plus and minus, he (Spyro) is meant to pay me money. In 2025, I will clear every accusation brought against me. Spyro, where is my 10% from the car deal? You owe me 2.5 million"
