The music world is in mourning as Nigerian-American rapper OG Maco, born Benedict Ihesiba Jr., has passed away at the age of 32. His family confirmed his death on December 27, describing him as a "resilient and creative soul" who left an indelible mark on the industry.

OG Maco shot to fame in 2014 with his viral hit "U Guessed It," a track that not only dominated social media but also cemented his place as a unique voice in hip-hop. As a member of Quality Control, he worked alongside industry heavyweights like Migos and Diplo, earning a spot in XXL's coveted 2015 Freshman Class.

Despite his success, Maco faced significant personal challenges. A near-fatal car accident in 2016 left him with multiple injuries, and in 2019, he revealed a severe skin condition that further tested his resilience. Yet, he continued to inspire fans with his openness about his struggles and his dedication to his craft.

Just weeks before his passing, Maco's family disclosed that he was in critical condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Placed on life support, he was undergoing tests, and his manager, Poppa Perc, called for prayers from fans and loved ones.

Maco’s untimely death has sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community, with tributes pouring in from fans and fellow artists alike. His family expressed their grief while celebrating his life, saying, “Though he is no longer with us, his music and legacy will live on in our hearts forever.”

As the industry mourns this tragic loss, OG Maco's contributions to music and culture remain a lasting testament to his talent and determination.
