Yemi Alade Slams Cool FM and CloudAfrica FM Over Alleged Blacklisting Drama!

Afropop star Yemi Alade has publicly called out popular Lagos-based radio station Cool FM Nigeria and media platform CloudAfrica FM, accusing them of blacklisting her music for nearly a year over her absence from their December 2023 event.

In a series of fiery posts on her verified X (formerly Twitter) account, the 35-year-old singer expressed frustration at the stations' alleged retaliation, revealing that she had reached out to apologize for not attending the event. However, her efforts were reportedly ignored.

“Mr. Serge and Mr. Joseph, this life is not hard like that. WE SEE YOU… I SEE YOU @cloutafrica @CoolFMNigeria. This world is a small village. My God will fight for me… Una dey forms gatekeepers in 2024,” she tweeted, directing her accusations at the managers of the stations, Serge Noujaim and Joseph Adamu.

According to Yemi, Cool FM and CloudAfrica FM completely removed her music catalogue from their playlists, banning all her songs—past and present—from airplay.

“Since December 2023, I personally reached out in January. You are still refusing to play my music and giving my team a hard time. You’re not gatekeepers, and you are not God,” she wrote in frustration.

The "Johnny" hitmaker further accused the stations of intimidation, claiming they attempted to “play God” by abusing their platform and refusing to resolve the matter amicably.

Fans and fellow artists have since rallied around Yemi, voicing their support while calling for more transparency in the industry.
