Nigerian singer Jaywon has revealed that he's not on speaking terms with Ayra Starr after a viral photo sparked trolling against him. In the widely circulated image, Ayra Starr is seen holding Jaywon’s hand, which fans interpreted as her preventing him from placing his arm around her waist.
Speaking on News Central, Jaywon expressed disappointment with Ayra Starr and her team, saying they fueled the online mockery by promoting the image instead of addressing the trolls.
“The Ayra Starr situation is unfortunate. We are not cool,” he shared. “When I see a young artist doing well, I want to celebrate them. We took a picture out of support, and it went viral, but no one from her team tried to stop the trolling. Instead, they kept promoting the image to maintain the trend.”
The "This Year" crooner noted that while he appreciates Ayra Starr’s impact on the Nigerian music scene, he expected her to stand up against the trolling. “They feel if they say something, the picture stops trending. No problem. Everybody has their time," he concluded.
The revelation has left fans debating respect and camaraderie in the industry, with many wondering if the two stars will ever reconcile.
