Social media critic Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been granted bail of N2 million after being arraigned on Friday for impersonation.
The case stems from a viral video in which Otse wore what appeared to be a police uniform, an act the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) condemned as unauthorized.

The Abuja court ruled that Otse must provide two sureties, each with assets equivalent to N2 million. Additionally, VDM is required to surrender his international passport and other forms of identification to the court, ensuring his compliance with trial proceedings.
His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, disclosed the bail terms, which include verification of the sureties’ addresses and the requirement that they reside within Abuja Municipal, under the court's jurisdiction.

This comes after the NPF launched an investigation into the incident last week, citing concerns about the misuse of official attire by online personalities.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, emphasized that unauthorized use of police uniforms undermines the integrity of the Force, sparking intense public discourse on the boundaries of online content creation.
