Nigerian rapper Phyno, real name Chibuzor Azubike Nelson, has fiercely defended his decision to feature convicted socialite Hushpuppi on his latest album Full Time Job.

The backlash erupted online after fans heard Hushpuppi’s voice delivering motivational quotes on the track Nwoke Esike, with many questioning the rapper’s choice to feature someone with a criminal history.

Taking to social media, Phyno responded sharply to the criticism. “Go and sleep if u no sabi game!!! If Young Thug or El Chapo talk for song now you go rush first play am…ngwere isi red!” he wrote, comparing his collaboration with Hushpuppi to those with controversial figures in global hip-hop.

This collaboration marks an unexpected twist in Phyno’s relationship with Hushpuppi. The two had a public fallout in 2017 after Hushpuppi accused Phyno and fellow artist Ice Prince of wearing fake designer wristwatches, which sparked a heated online exchange.

Despite the controversy, Phyno’s track has fans divided—some are calling it a bold artistic choice, while others question its timing. But one thing is clear: Phyno is standing firm on his creative choices, making it known he’s unbothered by the uproar.
