Three individuals have been arrested in Lagos for allegedly possessing suspected human tongues, according to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command.
The suspects were taken into custody on October 15 during a routine stop-and-search operation on the Otedola Bridge, where human remains were discovered in a taxi.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed the incident in a post on his social media account, @benHundeyin, on Tuesday.
Hundeyin addressing the press said that two suspects (names withheld) were arrested on October 15 while in possession of human remains in a taxi during a routine stop-and-search operation on Otedola Bridge.
“Further investigations led the operatives to the apprehension of the third suspect from whom the parts were bought in Oyingbo Market, Lagos,” the police spokesperson stated.
He added that an investigation is currently underway at the command headquarters.
The spokesperson noted that the suspects will be charged if sufficient evidence of their guilt is found.
