Popular Nigerian singer Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, has opened up about his decision to study law, revealing that it wasn’t due to pressure from his father, renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, but rather an inspiration drawn from the people his father helped.
In a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo, Falz shared that growing up, he was often approached by people with stories about how his father fought for them. These experiences left a strong impression on him, motivating him to follow in his father’s footsteps—not out of obligation, but admiration.
“I wasn’t pressured,” Falz explained. “But when I was young, every time I mentioned my name, people had stories about how my dad helped them. It inspired me to emulate what my father was doing.”
Despite completing his law degree, Falz revealed that his career as a lawyer was brief, lasting nearly two years, before he transitioned fully into music in 2014 when his entertainment career began to take off.
The conversation has sparked admiration from fans, highlighting Falz’s unique journey from law to becoming one of Nigeria's most influential entertainers.
