Popular Nollywood actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi has announced plans to lead a protest on September 30, 2024, at the Lagos State House of Assembly to demand justice for the late singer Mohbad. This date coincides with the resumption of the coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Fabiyi urged the public to join the peaceful protest to pressure authorities to retrieve crucial CCTV footage from Mohbad’s residence. He emphasized that the footage is essential for uncovering the truth behind the singer's untimely death.
Fabiyi explained that despite evidence pointing to the existence of CCTV cameras in and around Mohbad’s home, the police have yet to access the recordings. He called on the Lagos State government to intervene and form a committee to investigate and secure the footage.
He wrote: "It is imperative that we mount legitimate pressure and protest peacefully to the gate of the Lagos State House of Assembly on the 30th of September, 2024… This struggle needs you. Be orderly and civil when attending."
The protest aims to hold the government accountable and ensure transparency in the investigation of Mohbad's death, while also seeking justice for the late singer's family.
