In the latest twist of the Bobrisky bribery saga, controversial activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has denied defaming renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana following accusations stemming from an audio recording involving social media personality Bobrisky.
The recording alleged that Falana and his son, rapper Falz, sought to secure a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for N10 million.
The recording alleged that Falana and his son, rapper Falz, sought to secure a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for N10 million.
Responding to the accusations, Falana described the claims as "vicious and reckless," issuing a 24-hour ultimatum for VeryDarkMan to retract the statement or face legal action. However, through his legal representative, Deji Adeyanju, VeryDarkMan denied any intent to defame Falana, insisting that the release of the audio was meant to spark a deeper investigation into Bobrisky’s claims, not damage the lawyer’s reputation.
"Our client denies defaming Mr. Femi Falana, SAN," Adeyanju’s letter read, clarifying that the activist holds Falana in high esteem and believes an investigation is necessary to uncover the truth. VeryDarkMan emphasized that he sought transparency from relevant agencies rather than pursuing a defamatory narrative. "If Bobrisky was lying, he should face the law," he stated in a social media video.
In his defense, VeryDarkMan explained that he chose not to edit out the part of the recording where Bobrisky mentioned Falana and Falz, as he believed it was crucial for a thorough investigation into the allegations. He further expressed that Falana is his go-to person in times of trouble, stressing that the thought of the lawyer’s involvement was deeply disappointing but not something he had chosen to believe without evidence.
Falz, who also demanded a retraction from the activist, has remained firm in his stance that neither he nor his father had any involvement in the alleged bribery attempt.
In response, VeryDarkMan stated that he’s ready to defend himself in court, maintaining that his call for an investigation was not an attack on Falana or his son. "If it comes to court, I will show up. I am not afraid because I didn’t say they were guilty—I only called for the truth," he added.
As the drama unfolds, the public awaits whether this case will evolve into a legal showdown or if the investigation will provide clarity on Bobrisky's explosive claims. For now, VeryDarkMan stands by his decision to release the recording, insisting that justice should be served, whether it vindicates or implicates those involved.
