Federal Government Suspends Two Correctional Officers Amid Bobrisky Bribery Scandal

The ongoing drama involving Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has taken another shocking turn as the federal government has suspended two officials of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) over bribery allegations.

The suspensions were confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by Ja’afaru Ahmed, secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

This development follows the explosive claims made by activist Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, who released a viral audio clip in which Bobrisky allegedly admitted to bribing EFCC officials with N15 million to have money laundering charges against him dropped.

In the recording, Bobrisky also claimed that his “godfather,” with the help of Haliru Nababa, the controller general of NCoS, arranged for him to serve his six-month sentence in a private apartment rather than in prison.

Bobrisky, who was sentenced on April 12 and released on August 5, swiftly denied the bribery claims, insisting that the audio clip was “fake” and dismissing the accusations as baseless. However, the viral recording has ignited a firestorm of reactions, with many Nigerians demanding a full investigation into the alleged corruption involving both EFCC and NCoS officials.
