Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has expressed her admiration for the controversial American rapper Kanye West. In a recent episode of the ‘Shopping The Sneakers’ podcast, the ‘Mr Rebel’ crooner shared her thoughts on the polarizing artist, stating, “I love Kanye [West]. I relate to him sometimes.”
During the podcast, Tems also opened up about her close friendship with American R&B star Brent Faiyaz, whom she described as a “real one.” She revealed that they have known each other since 2021 and highlighted his constant support.
“Brent Faiyaz is my very good friend. I have known him since like 2021. He is always supportive. I have a couple of artists I’m close to, and he’s one of them,” she said.

In addition to her candid revelations, Tems continues to make waves in the music industry, recently becoming the first female Nigerian artist to reach 1 billion solo streams on Spotify. This milestone comes on the heels of the release of her highly anticipated debut album, ‘Born In The Wild,’ further solidifying her position as one of Nigeria's leading music stars.
