Newly-crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, has finally addressed the allegations of identity theft surrounding her family, which led to her controversial exit from the Miss South Africa pageant.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Friday, Adetshina denied any involvement in identity theft, clarifying her stance on the ongoing legal matter.

Adetshina, who was born in Soweto in 2001, has faced intense scrutiny after the South Africa Department of Home Affairs (DHA) revealed that her mother was allegedly involved in fraud and identity theft. Despite the allegations, Chidimma maintained her innocence, stating, "I did not steal anyone’s identity."

The 23-year-old beauty queen further explained that she is awaiting the outcome of the case before making any definitive comments. "I’m just waiting for the conclusion of the case and the whole matter," she said, emphasizing that she does not have all the facts at this time and is cautious not to contradict future developments.

Adetshina reiterated her focus on pursuing her dreams, stating that her exit from the Miss South Africa pageant was not to avoid the allegations but rather to continue her path towards success. "I was just running because I knew I had a dream that I wanted to fulfil," she shared.

Chidimma’s response comes after her withdrawal from Miss South Africa and her eventual triumph in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, where she has faced both support and criticism.
