Madam Saje and Kanayo O. Kanayo to Receive ‘Lifetime Achievement’ Awards at 2024 BON Awards

Nollywood legends Fausat Balogun, popularly known as Madam Saje, and Kanayo O. Kanayo are set to be honoured with ‘Lifetime Achievement’ awards at the 2024 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards.

Seun Oloketuyi, the founder of BON Awards, announced the prestigious recognition in a statement on Friday, highlighting the significance of celebrating Nollywood's icons while they are still alive.

“Why must we wait till our movie heroes are dead to give them awards? Posthumous awards are good, but it’s better the recipient receives the awards while alive,” Oloketuyi said, underscoring the importance of appreciating the contributions of living legends.

He praised both actors for their enduring impact on the Nigerian film industry. “Actress Fausat Balogun, known as Madam Saje, and Kanayo are people we grew up watching. They inspired the generation we watch now and still maintained their stand in the industry."

The awards will be presented on November 24 at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara State, where Nollywood’s finest will gather to celebrate these icons. The ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award is reserved for individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to the Nigerian movie industry. Past recipients include notable names like Toyin Adegbola, Madam Kofo, and Adebayo Salami.

As the date approaches, fans and industry insiders alike are eagerly anticipating this well-deserved recognition for two of Nollywood’s most beloved stars, whose careers have spanned decades and left an indelible mark on the industry.
