**Frenkie de Jong Sets the Record Straight: "I Don't Earn €37 Million a Year"**
In a recent statement, Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has firmly denied circulating rumors regarding his annual salary, which has been reported to be an astonishing €37 million.
The Dutch international took to social media to clarify the situation, emphasizing that the figures being discussed are far from the truth.
De Jong, who joined FC Barcelona in 2019 from Ajax, has been a pivotal player for the Catalan club, showcasing his exceptional skills and tactical awareness on the pitch. However, the speculation surrounding his earnings has overshadowed his contributions to the team.
In his statement, he expressed his frustration over the misinformation, stating, "I want to make it clear that I do not earn €37 million a year. Such figures are exaggerated and do not reflect my actual salary."
Addressing the salary rumors, De Jong also tackled claims regarding his health and fitness. Reports had surfaced suggesting that he had declined to undergo surgery on his ankle, an injury he sustained during a LaLiga match against Celta Vigo in September 2023.
The midfielder clarified that he is committed to his recovery and is working closely with the club's medical staff to ensure he returns to full fitness as soon as possible. "I have not refused any medical advice. My priority is to recover properly and contribute to the team," he stated.
