Popular Islamic singer Ibraheem Labaeka has resigned from his position as Special Assistant to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, citing discomfort with being paid for “doing nothing.”
In a resignation letter dated Thursday, September 12, 2024, which has since gone viral on social media, Labaeka expressed dissatisfaction with his assigned role, stating that his conscience could not allow him to continue receiving a salary without making meaningful contributions.
He explained, “I believe in being purposeful and impactful in whatever I do, and unfortunately, this position did not align with my principles.” Labaeka also thanked Governor AbdulRazaq for the opportunity to serve but noted that the appointment is a matter of public trust, and he could not, in good faith, continue to take a salary for an unproductive role.
