Nigerian social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has responded sharply to recent comments made by veteran rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, also known as Ruggedman.

The exchange began after Ruggedman stated in an interview that he initially admired VDM's activism, particularly his efforts against unregistered brands with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), but lost respect for him when VDM began delving into people's private lives, citing the case involving actress Iyabo Ojo.

VDM took to his Instagram page to address Ruggedman's remarks, expressing his disappointment in the rapper and making it clear that he holds a low opinion of Ruggedman and other Nigerian celebrities.

In a video response, VDM justified his approach to activism, explaining that he only targets individuals after receiving complaints about their alleged scams. He shared an example involving influencer Ashmusy, whom he accused of scamming a man out of ₦1 million—a situation that reportedly ended with Ashmusy returning the money.

VDM also denied Ruggedman's claim that he referred to Iyabo Ojo as an "old retired actress," insisting that he never made such a statement. He went further, stating that he has no respect for any Nigerian celebrities, including Ruggedman, whom he accused of being part of a fraudulent industry that deceives fans with Ponzi schemes and other dubious activities.

"All these celebrities in Nigeria, I don’t rate you people. I don’t rate you guys," VDM declared, criticizing the behavior of many public figures in the country. He also expressed anger towards Ruggedman, referencing a previous incident where the rapper was attacked in London and suggesting that Ruggedman deserved harsher treatment for his views.

"If na like this you dey think, they need to beat. They need to beat you to scatter scatter," VDM said, issuing a stern warning to Ruggedman not to mention him in any future podcasts or discussions. He promised more drama if Ruggedman failed to heed his warning.

The ongoing feud between VDM and Ruggedman highlights the growing tensions between social media activists and traditional celebrities in Nigeria, with both sides defending their perspectives and methods. As the conflict escalates, it remains to be seen whether the two will find common ground or if the dispute will continue to intensify.
