Controversial producer-turned-blogger Samklef has commended the Igbo community for reportedly abstaining from the ongoing nationwide protests against bad governance in Nigeria. This statement comes amidst widespread demonstrations over the increasing hardship in the country.
According to reports, many Nigerians took to the streets on Thursday to voice their grievances about the current state of the nation. However, some media outlets have suggested that the protests were largely boycotted in the Igbo-dominated South-East region.
Samklef, alluding to these reports, praised the Igbo people for their decision to abstain from the protests. He suggested that the responsibility for addressing the country's issues should lie with the tribes currently in power.
On his X handle, he wrote: "God bless my Igbo people for shunning the protest. Let the tribes in power carry their cross."
Samklef's comments have sparked discussions on social media, with many expressing varied opinions on the role of different ethnic groups in the ongoing protests.
