The management of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI) has taken decisive action following a bullying incident involving students that was captured on video and went viral on social media.
Nollywood Times recalls in a viral video that depicted a group of female students bullying another student, identified as Opemiposi Precious Bolaji, an 18-year-old Mass Communication student, assaulting Miss Gloria Ajayi, another Mass Communication student, in a private hostel outside the university campus.

However, out of the five students implicated in the video, two have been expelled, while the other two were exonerated. One student received a warning. The university's Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Veronica Makinde, emphasized that the institution's decision was not influenced by external pressure, including from parents.
In response to the video, the university's spokesperson, Temitope Akinbisoye, stated that all students involved were summoned and appeared before the Students' Disciplinary Committee for interrogations and appropriate recommendations. The committee's report was then submitted to the university authorities.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor reiterated the university's commitment to prioritizing the security of its students. She emphasized that the disciplinary actions taken would serve as a deterrent to other students, encouraging them to avoid any form of bullying.
The university's swift and decisive response to the bullying incident underscores its commitment to maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.
