Afrobeats sensation Davido made a surprise appearance at Times Square in New York to show his support for Nigerian chess master Tunde Onakoya, who is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon.
Onakoya kicked off his bid to surpass the current record of 58 hours on Wednesday, April 17, and Davido, fresh from a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden, was there to cheer him on.
Videos circulating on social media captured the heartwarming moment when Davido joined Onakoya, embracing and dancing together.
The chess marathon, which began on Wednesday, is set to conclude today, April 19. Adekunle Gold, another Nigerian artist, had previously visited the event and made donations to support the live streaming.
Onakoya has been undefeated in all his matches, including a game against New York's National Chess Master, Shawn Martinez.
