Grammy Award winner Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, found himself in a humorous situation at a recent award presentation in the UK, where he managed to turn an awkward moment into a cool and light-hearted one.

During the event, Burna Boy was called to the stage alongside Yasmine Finney to present the award for the best independent British designer. However, while reading from the TelePrompTer, Burna Boy encountered difficulty pronouncing some words, leading to a moment of confusion.

Despite the hiccup, Burna Boy maintained his composure and playfully squinted at the screen to get a better view, which elicited laughter from the audience. 

Burna Boy struggles as he reads: “This award is for a designer here in the UK whose independent….” from that moment, the silence of the graveyard enveloped the place.

Immediately facing difficulty with the words on the TelePrompTer, Burna Boy, showcasing his quick thinking, turned to British rapper Stormzy for assistance during the award presentation in the U.K. Stormzy, known for his sharp wit and quick responses, likely added a moment of levity to the situation, helping Burna Boy navigate through the challenging moment with humor and ease.

He said: “Come Stormzy, come and help me abeg. come here, help me read it.”

Stormzy reads: “This award is for a designer here in the UK whose independent business is a vanguard of creativity and innovation.”

And as Yasmine Finney completed the reading, announcing "and the best independent British designer winner is Wales Bonner," Burna Boy graciously presented the award to the winner as she arrived on stage.

In her acceptance speech, Wales Bonner expressed her admiration for Burna Boy, stating that receiving the award from the Grammy Award winner meant a lot to her.

She said: “Thank you very much, I’m such a big fan of Burna Boy, so this means a lot to receive this award from you, so thank you for that.”

In Bonner's closing remark, she said that the award meant a lot to her and her entire team at Wales Bonner.
