The issue first started when an X user posted about the Supermarket. He said when he first saw the Supermarket online he decided to pay them a visit but was surprised to be told no Nigerians are allowed in there. That action prompted him to post it online. It was the post that generated buzz online that made Nigerians bombard the place to protest. See the post below:

Trust Nigerians, they stormed the supermarket to see things themselves. On getting there they were told that it was since January 2024 that they stopped Nigerians from visiting the place. They were told that Nigerians working there would be fired if they attempted to force their ways into the place.

The widespread public outcry of Nigerina reactions of Nigerians over reports of discriminatory entry policies, which allegedly barred Nigerians from accessing the supermarket while allowing Chinese nationals entry made the FCCPC storm the place.
Shaibu Sanusi, the facility manager of the complex, acknowledged that while Nigerians from outside the premises were unable to shop at the supermarket, those within the complex could still access it. The FCCPC's arrival prompted the closure of the supermarket.
Concerns were raised that some individuals might be hiding inside the supermarket to evade confrontation with the consumer protection agency.

Meanwhile, it's not clear what the FCCPC would do to the Supermarket. Further news reaching Nollywood has it that the Chinese Supermarket owner, Cindy Liun Bien has been summoned to appear before the commission on Wednesday by 11am.
