The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) took decisive action by sealing off an Abuja-based Chinese supermarket located within the China General Chamber of Commerce premises following allegations of discriminatory practices against Nigerians.
FCCPC officials arrived at the supermarket on Monday and, after interrogating Nigerian workers, proceeded to seal the premises.
It was revealed that the owner of the supermarket, identified as Cindy Liu Bei, had fled the premises earlier that morning with her family, as captured by Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage.

This development came after Nigerians expressed outrage over the discriminatory entry policy of the supermarket, which purportedly allowed only Chinese nationals entry while barring Nigerians from shopping there.
Shaibu Sanusi, the facility manager, clarified that while Nigerians from outside the complex were restricted from shopping, those within the premises could still access the supermarket.

Despite the closure of the supermarket, concerns remained that some individuals might be hiding inside to evade confrontation with the FCCPC.
