The National Hospital denies allegations of referring Actor Zack Orji to a private medical facility

The National Hospital Abuja (NHA) has refuted claims that veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji was referred to a private hospital.

In a statement signed by the NHA spokesman, Tayo Haastrup, on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, it was clarified that Zack Orji was admitted to the hospital after falling ill.

The statement noted that the actor, who was brought in on New Year’s Eve, was stabilized in the intensive care unit, then moved to the ENT ward, and later transferred to the orthopaedic ward for surgery preparations.

The hospital dismissed the notion of a referral to a private facility.

He said, “The attention of the National Hospital Abuja has been drawn to a publication insinuating that the Apex hospital referred the Nigerian Actor Zack Orji to a private hospital in Abuja.

“To set the record straight, the actor, who was brought in on New Year’s Eve and admitted to the intensive care unit, was stabilized by National Hospital Abuja and moved to the ENT ward. Later in the day, he was transferred to the orthopaedic ward, where our surgeons began preparing him for surgery.”

According to him, “Leaving Against Medical Advice” form which Orji’s relatives signed on January 1, 2024, thwarted all preparations for his surgery.

He said the Management of the hospital wished the veteran actor a speedy recovery.
