Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has pledged to compensate singer Mayorkun for the valuable items he lost in Calabar. Mayorkun, a performer at the 2023 Calabar Carnival, had reported the loss of jewelry worth millions of naira.
Expressing his frustration on social media, Mayorkun had declared his intention not to perform in Calabar again. Shortly after, singer Iyanya shared news of the recovery of one of Mayorkun's stolen diamond chains.
In a subsequent post on his official platform, Mayorkun disclosed that he had a meeting with Governor Otu, who assured him of compensation for his lost valuables in Calabar.
He wrote; “Just met with the Governor of Cross River State, H.E Prince Bassey Otu. He assured me that Calabar people remain very hospitable and he has also stressed that I will be compensated for my valuables lost.
“Thank you sir. Still searching for my pendant. It’s so special to me for many reasons,” he added.
