Tobi Bakre, Kunle Afolayan, and More Score Impressive Wins at 2023 AMAA Awards

The 2023 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) concluded on Sunday night with the announcement of the winners at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Ikeja, Lagos.

The 19th edition of AMAA featured Nancy Isime, Richard Ato Turkson, and Rahama Sadau as hosts.

Kunle Afolayan, the renowned Nigerian producer and director, celebrated a victory as his film, 'Anikulapo,' triumphed in two categories: Best Achievement in Production Design and the Ousmane Sembene award for Best Film in an African Language. Senegal's 'Xale' clinched the awards for Best Film and Best Costume Design.

CJ 'Fiery' Obasi's 'Mami Water' achieved great success by winning awards in multiple categories, including Best Film in an African Language, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Screenplay, and Best Director.

Additionally, Nse Ikpe Etim and Tobi Bakre were honored with the titles of Best Actor and Actress In A Leading Role for their performances in 'Gangs of Lagos' and '4.4.44,' respectively.

The event was graced by the presence of numerous celebrities, including Bimbo Ademoye, Odunlade Adekola, and Nancy Isime, among others.
