Mayorkun, the popular singer known as Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, has called on members of the National Assembly to prioritize the repair and maintenance of Nigerian roads over acquiring new vehicles for themselves.
Recent reports have drawn widespread criticism from Nigerians regarding the purchase of 2023 model Toyota Prado vehicles for 469 members of the Assembly. Sunday Karimi, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Services, defended the purchase by citing the poor condition of Nigerian roads.
In response, Mayorkun took to his Snapchat page to express his views, urging lawmakers to redirect their focus toward fixing the nation's road infrastructure instead of procuring vehicles for their own use.
He wrote, “Road no good, una dey buy new SUV.
“Fix the f**king rooooadddddd!!!!
“Lekki Epe Express is Terrible!. Appalling sh*t!
“Nothing like I can drive’ in this country o, I sabi road’ is a better compliment.”
